How it works
- Total flight distance equals distance per segment multiplied by the number of segments.
- Passenger miles equal total flight distance multiplied by the number of travellers.
- The estimate does not represent loyalty points unless an airline awards one point per eligible mile.
Example
A 500-mile segment flown twice by 2 travellers produces 1,000 flight miles and 2,000 passenger miles.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as airline reward points?
No. Airlines apply their own earning rates, fare classes and programme rules.
Should a return flight count as two segments?
Yes, when the return journey covers the same distance.
Can I use kilometres?
Yes, but all inputs and outputs will then represent kilometres rather than miles.
Does the estimate include connecting flights?
Include each relevant segment in your total segment count or calculate routes separately.
Are taxes and ticket prices included?
No. This calculator estimates distance only.
